CANTER WITH

CONFIDENCE

Cross Country.jpg

The Canter with Confidence course is specially designed for riders already competent at walk and trot but lack the confidence to progress.

Whether you have lost confidence through a fall or accident, have not yet learnt to canter, or have not ridden for many years, we aim to give you the motivation you need to advance on this course.

This course includes re-establishing the basics in walk and trot, learning to canter with confidence, stable management and horse care, road safety and hacking, and tack and equipment.

Progress Expectation

The expectation of progress is based on 7 days for relatively fit and healthy individuals. Our aim is for the rider to be confident in canter in a variety of situations by the end of the course. The speed of your progress will entirely depend on previous experience. There is a substantial difference between being capable but having previously lost confidence in canter and being confident but never having cantered before. It is, therefore, almost impossible to judge a rider’s progress expectation prior to the first lesson on the course.

Progress is specific to each individual, and confidence is as, if not more, important than capability. Although we have had many individuals who have achieved all of the above, that does not mean that you have to. We are always ready to alter the course programme to suit the rider to ensure that you achieve as much as your body will allow.
